CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION OF KAUA’I
CODE OF ETHICS
As members in good standing of the Contractors Association of Kaua’i, we believe and accept the responsibilities and
obligations inherent in building and renovating. Basic to these ethical beliefs, we support the following objectives:
1. To conduct business affairs with professionalism and skill.
2. To provide the best value possible.
3. To protect the consumer through the use of quality materials and construction backed with integrity and service.
4. To build and renovate with high standards of safety, sanitation and livability.
5. To meet all financial obligations on time.
6. To comply consistently with the spirit and letter of business contracts, and manage employees, subcontractors and suppliers
with fairness and honor.
7. To keep informed and to share knowledge regarding laws, regulations, proposed legislation, codes, public policies and other
essential information which affect our business interests and those of the building industry as a whole.
8. To comply both in spirit and letter with the rules and regulations prescribed by law and government agencies for the health,
safety and progress of the community.
9. To keep honesty as our guiding business policy.
10. To protect all parties in our business activities by putting all financial obligations and commitments in writing, expressing the
exact agreement of the parties, and to provide copies of such agreements in a timely manner to all parties involved.
11. To provide timely and appropriate response to items covered under warranty.
12. To conduct business so as to avoid controversies, and should controversies arise, to seek to resolve such controversy through
a non-litigation dispute resolution mechanism.
13. To support and abide by the decisions of the Association in promoting and enforcing this Code of Ethics.
Members assume responsibilities of this Code of Ethics freely and solemnly, feel morally and financially responsible for
these obligations so assumed, and are mindful that theses responsibilities are a part of their obligation as members of the
Contractors Association of Kaua’i.
Because we hold inviolate the free enterprise system and the American way of life, we pledge our support to our associates;
our local state and national associations and all related industries concerned with preservation of legitimate rights and freedoms.
Finally, the Contractors Association of Kaua’i’s Code of Ethics is part of the by-laws adopted in October 1993. Due
process is outlined in Article III, section 3 and Article VII.
